The STARS Come Out at the Capitol!

Last Wednesday, February 6th, the STARS truly came out at the Capitol for our annual MAAP STARS Legislative Day.  Over 20 schools and programs were represented by approximately 200 students and staff.  Students came from all over the State, including Moorhead, Montevideo, Detroit Lakes, Bemidji, Warba, New Ulm, Austin, Owatonna and many metro area schools.  Students and staff were involved in an early morning hearing in front of the House Education Finance Committee, sessions with lobbyists and legislators and  individual meetings with legislators.  The day was a huge success and our students did us proud!

MAAP is proud to partner with more than 40 education and youth organizations around the country to bring you a project that aims to reshape the conversation surrounding education in America. The project, A Year at Mission Hill, allows us to see firsthand what goes into creating a powerful, purposeful and meaningful learning environment. You will meet the school’s teachers, families and children as they experience the highs and lows of a year of self-discovery, exploration, and frustration. Each video in this 10-part series and the resources that accompany them serve as a jumping-off point for national conversations about the state of public education as it is – and as it ought to be. After all, you can't have a new perspective if you don't take the time to find one.
